With the second week of the 2012 Legislative Session behind us, your team of member advocates, dedicated staff and contract lobbyists are working tireless to preserve the civil justice system in Florida and to protect your practice.

Last week was relatively slow in Tallahassee due to the once every ten years process of redrawing Congressional and legislative districts which consumed the halls of the Capitol. The Florida Legislature did, however, debate a bill pertaining to nursing homes. And fortunately, an amendment proposed by the FJA was adopted, greatly improving the bill.

Our team of advocates also lobbied legislators on major issues affecting our members, such as preserving insurance company bad faith laws, reforming the auto insurance market without infringing on the rights of injured drivers, and preventing the burdensome Daubert evidentiary standard from being adopted in Florida state courts.

Thank you again for your support of the FJA and for following our issues. Find out how you can be a part of our cause by calling Lynn in our Legislative Department at (850) 521-1030.
