Last week, the Legislature passed the halfway point. And while they continue their work on the state budget, one of their constitutionally mandated responsibilities is behind them – reapportionment.

Every ten years, the Legislature is tasked with redrawing all Congressional and legislative districts to account for changes in population. And due to the Fair Districts amendments passed by voters in 2010, the Legislature was prohibited from drawing seats that favor an incumbent and political party and instead must be compact and respect natural boundaries.

We still have four weeks to go. Find out how you can be a part of our cause by calling Lynn McCartney in the FJA Legislative Department at (850) 521-1030.
