Bad Faith Legislation Filed
Dear FJA Member:
I wanted to make you aware that today, Rep. Kathleen Passidomo (R-Naples) filed a bill that will legalize letting insurance companies treat consumers and businesses in bad faith. (HB 427).
Other bad bills already filed include ones that would:
- Give emergency room doctors sovereign immunity protections: (HB 385) filed by Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Ft. Walton Beach) and Sen. Mike Bennett (R-Bradenton); and
- Allow PPO PIP policies: (HB 119) filed by Rep. Jim Boyd (R-Bradenton) and Sen. Mike Bennett (R-Bradenton); and
- Go to Daubert standard for scientific evidence: (HB 243) filed by Rep. Larry Metz (R-Eustis) and Sen. Garrett Richter (R-Naples).
We are working everyday to protect the rights of your clients, but rest assured, the corporate giants and their army of lobbyists will try to do whatever it takes to stack the deck in their favor.
We can beat back these threats, just like we did last year, but only if we all jump in. We will be reaching out more specifically, but if you are willing to help out with citizen lobbying or contribute to our lobbying efforts, please let me know.
